Carbon Calculator

Based on the NOE CPC framework for IT Hardware and Services, NOE CPC has created a cost and carbon comparison tool for member organisations to compare the carbon efficiencies and associated costs of standard baseline desktop devices available under the framework.
When should I use the cost and carbon comparison tool?
- To compare the costs of buying new IT equipment (including both purchase price and lifetime energy costs)
The calculator can be used to aid decision making when buying new IT equipment, by allowing easy comparison of the costs of buying new IT equipment. Crucially it allows the comparison of the purchase price, but also the anticipated lifetime energy costs. The calculator also identifies the associated carbon (CO2) impact of purchasing different IT equipment. - To report on the carbon impact of replacing old IT equipment with new
The calculator enables the comparison of new IT equipment (available to purchase via the NOE framework agreement) with older IT equipment which is typically in service in NHS organisations. This allows the quantification of the positive carbon impact (reduction in CO2 emissions) by replacing old IT equipment with new. This information can be used for carbon reporting purposes.
Benefits
- Ability to view and compare the Co2 usage of devices across a range of suppliers and models available on the framework
- Ability to view and compare the energy cost plus the capital purchase costs of devices over a typical lifecycle
- Facilitates more informed purchasing decisions
- Demonstrates where Co2 efficiencies can be made to meet NHS targets
- Displays accurate data sets based on energy consumption figures provided directly by suppliers
- Ability to configure the tool to reflect the type of usage applicable for your organisation.
